Welcome to
Keene's Energy Plan
In 2050, the City of Keene will be a thriving and resilient community powered by affordable, clean, and renewable energy. All electricity and energy used for heating, cooling, and transportation will come from renewable energy sources.
Thank you for Attending a community power info session!
Two sessions were held on January 26, 2021. The draft Community Power Plan will be released on February 5, 2021.
The City of Keene and the Community Power Committee are seeking input from residents, businesses, and property owners on the goals, benefits, and features of a Community Power program for Keene.
What is Keene's Sustainable Energy Resolution?
In January 2019, the Keene City Council adopted Resolution R-2018-36 (Sustainable Energy Resolution) setting the following goals:
-
100 percent of electricity consumed in the City will come from renewable energy sources by the year 2030
-
100 percent of thermal energy and energy used for transportation will come from renewable energy sources by the year 2050
These aspirational goals apply to the entire community, not just municipal operations. The City Council made a commitment to develop a plan to achieve these goals by December of 2020.
